Terry Tamminen Writes About The True Cost of Our Oil Addiction
- As Special Advisor to Governor Schwarzenegger and former head of the California EPA, Terry Tamminen has been an architect of America’s most progressive energy independence plans. He recognizes that America’s addiction to oil is taking a huge toll on our health, environment, and national security and that oil and automobile companies have conspired for decades to hide the damage their products have done to America and the world. In Lives Per Gallon, Tamminen takes a hard look at the real costs hidden in every barrel of oil. As for his Finnish roots, his step-father, Len Tamminen was second generation and, reports Terry, “never told us much about the family’s Finnish history I don’t think he knew much. His family settled in Wisconsin when they arrived from Finland, but beyond that, we don’t know much. Sadly, they’re no longer with us to ask.”
He’s planning to visit Finland for the first time this coming June to speak at the World Climate Conference in Helsinki, “so I hope to connect at some level with my heritage even though it is somewhat attenuated!”, Tamminen told New World Finn.
Tamminen is available for public speaking engagements. His website, terrytamminen.com, has more information.- Download previous issues of New World Finn as PDF files
